Seafood RestaurantsTucked away in a small strip mall in far South Austin is a unique combination of Cajun-style cooking
and an ambience that can only be described as Austin in the 1970's. Originally from Lake Charles,
Louisiana, Curtis Clarke opened Evangeline Cafe in 2004 and it soon became a mecca for the kind of folks
who used to frequent long-gone Austin hangouts like Armadillo World Headquarters, the Rome Inn and Soap
Creek Saloon. Evangeline's serves home-style seafood, burgers, sandwiches and other Cajun dishes in a
relaxed, collectable-filled atmosphere that includes a dog-friendly outdoor patio area. Besides great
food, Evangeline's also offers great live music from some of Austin's favorite musicians such as
Redd Volkaert, Rick Broussard, Cowboy Johnson, Ponty Bone, Joe King Carrasco, Charles Thibodeaux and Larry Lange.
